SHIMLA: Chief Minister of [State], Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has declared the extension of services for 1,844 outsourced health employees in various health institutions across the state.
During the peak of the pandemic, these 1,844 employees, including staff nurses, data entry operators, class IV employees, and others, were recruited on an outsourced basis to support the overwhelmed healthcare system.
Initially, their service period was set to end on June 30. However, recognizing their valuable contribution and the persistent challenges faced in the healthcare sector, the state government has taken the decision to extend their tenure until September 30, 2023.
This extension will allow the outsourced employees to continue their crucial roles in various medical colleges and health institutions within the state.
The Chief Minister emphasized the significance of their services in maintaining the provision of quality healthcare during these unprecedented times.
To facilitate the extension, the state government has allocated a budget of approximately Rs. 15 crore from its exchequer. This financial commitment reflects the government's recognition of the outsourced employees' dedication and commitment to public health, ensuring that they receive the necessary support to carry out their responsibilities effectively.
