Pooh Gets Twin Indoor Stadiums, Rijiju & Kangana Join Locals in Kinnauri Dance
Pooh (Kinnaur), June 28:
In a vibrant blend of development and culture, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju laid the foundation stones for two indoor stadiums at GSSS Pooh and GSSS Giabong in the remote tribal region of Kinnaur on Friday.
The projects fall under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) scheme aimed at nurturing young sporting talent in far-flung areas.
The centre will give 90 per cent of funds while state will contribute 10 per cent.
Rijiju was accompanied by Hon’ble MP Kangana Ranaut, who represents Mandi parliamentary constituency, and other dignitaries.
The event turned festive as the dignitaries joined locals in performing traditional Kinnauri folk songs and dances, showcasing the cultural vibrancy of the region.
"Development and tradition go hand in hand. After laying the foundation stone of the projects, we celebrated with the people of Pooh by participating in their rich folk traditions," Rijiju said.
Locals welcomed the move, saying the indoor stadiums will not only encourage youth to pursue sports but also provide a much-needed infrastructure boost in this high-altitude tribal belt.
