Chamba: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) and Sewa Sanstha organized a one-day workshop for farmers in Bhatiyat block of the district.

In this, about 50 farmers of Kunjar Mahadev Vegetable Producer Cooperative Society participated and got tips on how to do branding of their products using technology so that they would increase their profit margins in the markets.

In this workshop, district development manager,  NABARD Sahil Swangla, agriculture extension officer Suresh,  Mrityunjay, AM, Co-operative Bank and Dr. Harish Sharma, Director of Seva Sanstha gave their valuable inputs to the farmers.

NABARD, manager Sahil Swangla guided the farmers and gave detailed information about the schemes being run by the government. During this, the Director of Seva Sanstha, Dr. Harish Sharma interacted with the farmers on various topics and an action plan was prepared for 2022.

Sharma said the members were informed about of  products of the producer organization and how to do their branding and promotion.

Farmers were also made aware about the facility of loans and how to increase agricultural production.

Experts made the farmers aware about how to increase the membership of FPOs for smooth functioning. Farmers also put forward various problems related to the expansion and marketing of their business.

Dr. Harish Sharma said they interacted with FPO members and facilitate them with technology intervention.  “We are enhancing their capacities so as to compete with market trends that, in turn, would generate good income for the farmers so that they have a sustainable livelihood”, he said.
