Shimla: ,The scientists from Nauni and Palampur University, along with CSIR IMTECH, shared promising updates on their ongoing research into natural farming in Himachal.

 The research, conducted under the Natural Farming Khushhal Kisan Yojana, showcased positive outcomes, particularly in the realm of crop diversity and profitability.

Projects were allocated to various agencies under the initiative to explore the implications and benefits of natural farming.

During the review meeting chaired by Hemis Negi, the State Project Director of Natural Farming Khushhal Kisan Yojana, scientists presented their findings.

Dr. Subhash Verma and Dr. Usha Sharma from Nauni University emphasized that natural farming methods demonstrated superior results compared to traditional approaches, leading to increased profits and comparable production levels.

Noteworthy aspects highlighted in the meeting included a decreasing need for labor in natural farming, enhanced soil quality, and improved disease resistance in fruits and crops.

The researchers pointed out that crops cultivated through natural farming methods exhibited resilience in adverse weather conditions.

Hemis Negi expressed optimism about the positive outcomes reported by universities and institutions involved in the research.

He underscored the potential economic benefits for farmers and announced plans to disseminate the successful farming practices identified during the research to benefit a wider agricultural community.

The meeting, attended by  Joint Director Agriculture Dr. RS Jasrotia, Deputy Director Agriculture Dr. Mohinder Bhawani, and various university directors and researchers, signaled a significant step forward in promoting natural farming practices in Himachal Pradesh.
