Nerwa/Shimla – Education Minister Rohit Thakur graced the closing ceremony of a five-day state-level cultural competition for Under-19 boys and girls at Government Excellent Senior Secondary School Nerwa in the Chopal Assembly area.
The event saw participation from 12 districts.
He highlighted the state government's commitment to enhancing education infrastructure in rural areas. He emphasized the implementation of the Mukhyamantri Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana, offering one percent interest loans to students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds for higher education.
Thakur underscored the importance of cultural activities in shaping a well-rounded personality, announcing incentives for students winning cultural competitions, aligning with NCC and sports rewards.
He assured the recruitment of 6,000 new teachers for rural and remote areas, aiming to fill vacant teaching positions.
The competition featured various categories, with Government Senior Secondary School, Lalpani, Shimla, securing the top position in the solo song competition. In cultural achievements, Government Senior Secondary School, Nahol, Shimla, stood first in folk dance.
Minister Thakur pledged to strengthen resources in Government Senior Secondary School, Nerwa, including libraries and furniture, while also addressing the need for additional construction.
The event, attended by over 1100 students, showcased the state's commitment to fostering cultural talent among the youth.
