Shimla: Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government College in Sunni, Shimla, is set to professionalise education in rural Himachal Pradesh with the introduction of a Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) course for the academic session 2024-25.
This pioneering initiative aims to provide top-tier educational facilities not only to Sunni tehsil but also to the remote areas of Mandi district.
The credit for this goes to nine other than innovative College principal Dr Ram Lal Sharma. 
The college, known for its commitment to academic excellence, will commence the admission process for the upcoming academic year, welcoming students interested in pursuing Arts, Commerce, Science, and now, BCA.
With 40 seats allotted by Himachal Pradesh University for the BCA program, the college is prepared to cater to both subsidized and non-subsidized students, offering equal opportunities for quality education.
Dr. RL Sharm expressed his enthusiasm for this new venture, urging parents to consider Sunni College for their children's education.
Emphasizing the institution's dedication to providing a conducive learning environment, Dr. Sharma highlighted the presence of experienced professors across all departments and modern facilities such as computer labs, science laboratories, smart classrooms, and an extensive library.

Special library access from 9 am to 6 pm on all days, including holidays, aims to cultivate a reading culture and prepare students for competitive examinations, he said.
Furthermore, the college is launching various clubs and societies to nurture students' overall personalities.
In alignment with the government's vision for skill development, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government College is offering two skill courses, English Efficiency (EEE) and Data Entry, through HPKVN, free of cost.
