GMC Srinagar Resident Doctors Demand Hike in Stipend
Srinagar: Resident doctors at Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar staged a demonstration on the college premises on Wednesday, demanding a hike in their stipend, which they described as long overdue.
The doctors said they work for long hours and shoulder significant clinical responsibilities while providing round-the-clock care to patients. They maintained that their contribution to the public healthcare system warrants fair compensation and recognition.
The residents urged the Omar Abdullah-led Jammu and Kashmir Government to take immediate steps to revise their stipend and address their concerns.
They said the demand for a stipend hike is not a favour but a matter of fairness and dignity for young doctors undergoing rigorous postgraduate training while serving patients in government hospitals.
The residents called upon the government to intervene and ensure an early resolution of the issue.
