AIIMS Awantipora Takes Shape: Kashmir Set To Get State-of-the-Art Healthcare Hub
AWANTIPORA: Kashmir is moving closer to getting its first All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), with the AIIMS Awantipora project now around 76 per cent complete, marking a major milestone in the expansion of advanced healthcare infrastructure in the Valley.
Once fully operational, the 750-bed AIIMS Awantipora is expected to provide people across Kashmir access to specialised and super-speciality healthcare, modern diagnostic facilities and advanced medical treatment without the need to travel outside the Valley for many complex procedures.
The institution will go beyond hospital services, with facilities for medical education, training and research, creating a major healthcare and academic centre in the region.
For patients and their families, the project could significantly reduce the burden of travelling to cities outside Kashmir for specialised treatment. Access to state-of-the-art facilities closer to home is expected to be particularly significant for patients requiring prolonged or complex medical care.
The development of AIIMS Awantipora also represents a major investment in the region's long-term healthcare capacity, strengthening the availability of specialist doctors, modern medical technology and trained healthcare professionals.
