Shimla: To revamp healthcare infrastructure, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister unveiled a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing medical services giving a major push to cancer care across the state.
Addressing the budget session today, the CM highlighted key measures focused on building a healthier, educated, skilled, and innovative Himachal.
A major announcement includes the establishment of a State Cancer Institute at Dr. Radhakrishnan Medical College in Hamirpur, equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facilities.
Additionally, Cancer Day Care Centres will be set up in district hospitals and selected health centers to provide chemotherapy and palliative care to cancer patients.
To further advance cancer care, a Linear Accelerator (LINAC) machine will be installed at Indira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla, representing a significant investment of Rs. 21 crore.
The budget also allocates funds for procuring machinery and equipment for 69 Adarsh Swasthya Kendras, ensuring comprehensive healthcare services at the grassroots level.
Efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure include expediting works at the PGI Satellite Centre in Una and establishing Hospital Management Information Service (HMIS) in 53 health institutions across the state.
A State-level Scrub Typhus Research Unit will be set up, along with Lactation Management Centres in key medical facilities.
Furthermore, each district will witness the establishment of an Integrated Public Health Lab, equipped with all necessary test facilities.
The General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) school at Dr. Rajendra Prasad Medical College in Tanda will be upgraded to a Nursing College, enhancing nursing education and training.
In line with the government's commitment to the welfare of workers, a Guest Worker Screening Project will be initiated to ensure the health and safety of migrant workers.
Moreover, reforms will be introduced in healthcare schemes such as HIMCARE and SAHARA, with the assistance of national-level domain experts.
The CM emphasized the importance of quality education in healthcare delivery, with plans to provide modern classrooms, smart boards, and other facilities in educational institutions.
These measures signify a comprehensive approach towards developing a robust healthcare system, ensuring the well-being of the people of Himachal Pradesh.
