Himachal CM Seeks Extra Funds for Health Infrastructure and Bulk Drug Park
Shimla, July 18, 2024: In a bid to boost Himachal Pradesh's healthcare infrastructure, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu met with Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda in New Delhi last evening.
The CM emphasized the state’s commitment to improving its health sector, stressing the need for cutting-edge medical technology to prevent residents from seeking advanced treatments outside the state.
He sought immediate financial support to complete the ongoing construction of medical colleges in Nahan, Chamba, and Hamirpur.
Additionally, he underscored the quality of medical education in the state and urged for assistance in placing nursing graduates in international positions.
A significant part of the discussion focused on the Bulk Drug Park, for which the CM sought additional financial aid, citing its potential to spur economic growth and create jobs locally.
In response, the Union Minister assured that the Centre would provide all possible support to the state.
The meeting was attended by Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sunder Singh Thakur, Principal Secretary Finance Devesh Kumar, Secretary to Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, Resident Commissioner Meera Mohanty, and Private Secretary to the Union Health Minister Ashutosh Garg.
