Lions Club Holds Free Health Camp at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex
Shimla, October 26 – Reaffirming its commitment to community service, Lions Club Shimla organised a free Health Check-up Camp at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex, The Mall, in association with Max Hospital, Mohali.
The camp was inaugurated by Shimla MLA Harish Janartha, who lauded the Lions Club for its continued efforts in public welfare. “Such initiatives truly serve society. I hope Lions Club continues to hold more health camps in the future,” he said.
Lions Club President Lion Gopal Krishan Vaid announced that the Club will soon organise eye check-up and health camps, besides a blood donation camp at The Ridge on November 9.
Zone Chairperson Lion Manmohan Verma highlighted that Lions International is engaged globally in health, education, and environmental initiatives on a purely charitable basis.
He informed that the organisation recently provided a grant of ₹15 lakh for disaster relief, with material flagged off by the Chief Minister for distribution in affected areas.
The camp, supported by the Max Hospital team comprising Dr. Gurjot (Medicine), Dr. Arjun (Orthopaedics), and Shivam (Bone Mineral Density Test), offered on-the-spot blood tests, pulmonary function tests, ECGs, and other diagnostics.
Around 168 people benefitted from the camp, receiving all tests and medicines free of cost. Medicines worth ₹45,000 were distributed by the Lions Club.
Doctors observed that a majority of patients suffered from orthopaedic ailments, blood pressure, and sugar-related issues.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from Lions Club members, including Lion Vikas Seth (Project Chairperson), Lion K.R. Sharma (Treasurer), Lion Daleep Sharma (Joint Secretary), Lion M.K. Sharma (Vice President), Lion Sanjeev, Lion D.V. Pathania, Lion P.S. Panwar, Lion Anil Sood, Lion Sohan Sharma, and others, along with their families, who contributed to making the camp a success.
