HAMIRPUR: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu reviewed the functioning of Dr. Radha Krishnan Government Medical College in Hamirpur here today in the presence of Health Minister Dr. (Col) Dhani Ram Shandil, MLA Ranjit Rana, and other health officials.
He announced that the new campus at Jol Sappad will feature world-class facilities. The project, costing over Rs 400 crore, will house state-of-the-art medical equipment.
This includes three Tesla MRI machines, digital mammography, high-end X-ray, CT scan, and ultrasound machines. The facility will have a total of 292 beds.
Sukhu also confirmed that a critical care unit is being built at a cost of Rs 20 crore. The campus will have a double electricity supply to ensure uninterrupted services. He directed officials to ensure water supply within 15 days.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for adequate staffing.
More doctors, including Professors and Associate Professors, are being hired. Walk-in interviews will be conducted to fill doctor vacancies.
The government has approved the deployment of 150 staff nurses. Additional medical and paramedical staff will be hired as needed.
Sukhu said efforts are being made to meet international standards in staffing.
A 200-bed mother and child hospital and two hostels for female students are also planned. The campus will have advanced labs for patient testing.
In the second phase of development, a 300-bed medical block, a state cancer hospital, a super specialty hospital, and a nursing college will be built.
