DHARAMSHALA:  Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur inaugurated the Rs 60 lakh Dialysis Unit at Dr. Rajender Prasad Government Medical College Tanda. 

He said about 100 patients had to go to Chandigarh or other institutes out of the state for dialysis every month. Now these patients would be treated at Tanda. Dialysis facility would be free of cost to card holders of Himcare and Ayushman Bharat Yojna. Non-card holder would have to pay Rs.1047.

Chief Minister said earlier the Red Cross and CM Relief fund were the only source of helping the needy patients but after the Himcare yojna was launched, it proved to be a source of helping a person in distress.

Jai Ram Thakur said facilities of PET scan machine and latest MRI machine would also be available soon in Tanda Medical College and especially the people of Kangra and neighbouring districts would get the benefit as Tanda Medical College is approachable to them. New CT scan machine would also be set up in Tanda Medical College, he added.

Chief Minister said expansion of existing hostel facilities of Tanda Medical College would be top priority and directions have been issued in this regard.

Later, the Chief Minister also presided over a review meeting of HODs of Tanda Medical College. He said government is committed for providing best facilities and infrastructure.

Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Sarveen Chaudhary, MLA Nagrota Arun Kumar, Principal Tanda Medical College Dr. Bhanu Awasthi, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Nipun Jindal and SP Kangra Khushal Sharma were also present among others.
