Reckong Peo: Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd. (HPPCL) celebrated its seventeenth Raising Day with a ceremony held here today.
The event was highlighted by the unfurling of the HPPCL flag by Sh. Shivam Pratap Singh, Director Personnel HPPCL.
During the celebration, the HPPCL oath was administered to all employees, emphasizing their commitment to the corporation. Notably, two projects with a combined capacity of 580 MW are under construction in Distt. Kinnaur.
Sh. Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, laid the foundation stone for the State's largest Solar Power Project, a 32 MW facility at Pekhubella in Una District, on December 2, 2023. Funding arrangements for harnessing 200 MW Solar Power have been secured with the World Bank, and a relevant agreement was signed on November 6, 2023. Additionally, the 10 MW Aghlor Solar Power Project was awarded on the same day.
Updates on ongoing projects include the commencement of construction for the Chanju-III Hydro Electric Project (48 MW) and plans for the Deothal Chanju Hydro Electric Project (30 MW) in Chamba District.
The French Development Agency (AFD) is providing 80 Million Euro for these ventures. Progress reports indicate that the construction of the 450 MW Shongtong Karchham hydroelectric project and the 130 MW Kashang hydroelectric project are proceeding smoothly.
The Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs of the Government of India has approved funding of Rs. 6947 Crores for the Renukaji Dam Project. Rs. 1073 Crores have been distributed to project-affected individuals, and plans for Compulsory Afforestation are underway.
HPPCL's commissioned projects are reported to be running smoothly and generating substantial revenue for the State. Currently, four projects with a total capacity of 690 MW are under construction, while the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for four projects totaling 272 MW have been approved.
Additionally, DPRs for ten projects with a combined capacity of 926 MW are in the investigation stage, said HPPCL Spokesperson.
