MANALI:  At 26, Anchal Thakur is a shining skiing star  from  Manali. She is in news again as she is now one of members of   "Women on a Mission & Her Planet Earth" international all-female team.

Anchal became the first woman from India to join this prestigious team, a feat that brought immense pride not just to Himachal Pradesh, but to the entire nation.

Her journey from the snowy slopes of her hometown to becoming a part of an international all-female team is truly inspiring.

Anchal's love for skiing began at the tender age of seven. She would glide down the slopes of Manali  by tying her desi ski kits. Over the years, her dedication bore fruit as she clinched numerous medals at the national level.

Her remarkable skills also earned her a spot in the International Children Skiing Championships held in Italy in 2009 and 2010.

She proudly represented India in the Asian Children Skiing Championship in Korea in 2011 and Lebanon in 2009.

The pinnacle of her early career came when Anchal stood as India's sole skier in the Innsbruck ski resort during the first Youth Winter Olympics in January 2012. This was a defining moment, showcasing her prowess on an international platform.

One of her proudest moments was qualifying for the Winter Olympics in New Zealand in July 2011. To prepare for this grand stage, Anchal undertook rigorous training at the St. Moritz Ski Resort in Switzerland, further honing her skills and determination.

Anchal Thakur's story is inspiring for youth. From her early days in Manali to her triumphs on the international stage, she has exemplified the spirit of a true champion.

Her father, Roshan Lal Thakur, himself an adventure enthusiast from Manali, is proud of her achievements.
