SHIMLA: Under the auspices of the All India Saraswat Parishad, an organization devoted to honoring nationalist scholars, Gaurav Sharma of Shimla was awarded the prestigious National Saraswat Award on November 10, 2024, at a grand ceremony held at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) in Varanasi.
Recognized for his contributions in social service, Sharma is a former councilor of Shimla Municipal Corporation and a young BJP leader actively engaged in various social initiatives.
The award was presented to Sharma by Professor Manoj Dixit, Vice Chancellor of Maharaja Ganga Singh University, who served as the chief guest, along with Shri Ajit Prasad, National Go-Seva Head and RSS pracharak, who presided over the event.
The ceremony took place in the lecture hall of BHU's Vedic Science Center.
During this event, 30 prominent individuals from different fields who have made notable contributions to society were also honored. Among them was Piyush Sharma, a teacher from Shimla, who received the Saraswat Award in the field of education.
In his congratulatory message, Professor Vivekananda Tiwari, President of the Saraswat Parishad, extended his best wishes to Gaurav Sharma.
This year marked the first time three people from Himachal Pradesh received this national recognition.
Expressing his gratitude, Gaurav Sharma dedicated the award to all residents of Himachal Pradesh, acknowledging the support and blessings that made this achievement possible.
He has been dedicated to students’ rights since his early days in student politics, and at the age of 21, he served as a councilor for Shimla Municipal Corporation, continually working for the city's welfare.
Even today, he remains committed to serving the people of Shimla.
Many leaders extended their congratulations to Sharma, including former Chief Minister Jairam Thakur, BJP state president Rajeev Bindal, former minister Suresh Bhardwaj, MPs Anurag Thakur, Harsh Mahajan, Sikander Kumar, Suresh Kashyap, and former MLA Khushi Ram Balnahata from Rohru, among other well-wishers from Shimla.
