SR Harnot Honored with 'Shoolini Sahitya Samman 2025' for Literary Excellence
Solan: Renowned writer SR Harnot was conferred with the prestigious "Shoolini Sahitya Samman 2025" by Shoolini University, recognizing his remarkable contributions to literature.
The honor was bestowed upon him on March 30, 2025, during the concluding ceremony of the university's three-day National Literary Festival.
The award was presented by the Founder and Chancellor of Shoolini University, Prof. Prem Kumar Khosla, in the presence of acclaimed actor Rajit Kapoor, noted performer Shenaz, and members of the festival organizing committee.
The event was attended by a distinguished gathering of educators, authors, artists, musicians, and students from across India.
A major highlight of the ceremony was a theatrical adaptation of two of Harnot’s celebrated stories, Bees Foot Ke Bapu Ji and The Redening Tree.
The performance, staged by Rajit Kapoor and Shenaz, captivated the audience with its gripping narrative and stellar execution, keeping the packed auditorium mesmerized for over 90 minutes.
Expressing his gratitude upon receiving the honor, Harnot described it as an unexpected and special recognition.
He emphasized the importance of universities celebrating literary contributions and expressed appreciation for the selection and performance of his short stories by renowned actors.
Shoolini University has also enriched its library collection by acquiring all of Harnot's published works.
A prolific writer, he has authored over 22 books, with his stories and novels being a part of academic curricula in more than 15 universities across India.
Additionally, his work is being extensively researched in over 50 universities, including through MPhil and PhD programs.
Harnot's literary legacy continues to inspire generations, cementing his status as a towering figure in contemporary Indian literature.
