Shimla’s Pooja Thakur Shines Bright: Bags AIIMS Gold Medal, Brings Laurels to Himachal
Shimla/New Delhi – Pooja Thakur, a daughter of Himachal Pradesh, has once again made the state proud with her exceptional academic and professional achievements.
A gold medalist in nursing, Pooja recently secured yet another prestigious gold medal for her Master of Science in Critical Care from AIIMS New Delhi (2022-2024 batch), reinforcing her stature in the field of medical sciences.
Born in Karsog, Pooja is now married into the reputed Ranta family, her father-in-law being former District and Sessions Judge Prem Pal Ranta.
Her husband is a practicing lawyer in New Delhi. However, her personal commitments have never deterred her from excelling in her profession.
Her journey of excellence began in 2016 when she graduated as a gold medalist in BSc Nursing from Himachal Pradesh University (IGMC, Shimla).
The honor was conferred upon her by former Chief Justice of India, T.S. Thakur, and the former Governor of Himachal Pradesh, Acharya Devvrat. Since then, she has been making strides in the field of critical care nursing, serving at AIIMS New Delhi for the past eight years.
Pooja’s dedication to research and academic excellence has earned her multiple accolades.
She has secured first positions in various national conferences for her scientific paper and poster presentations, bagging the ‘Best Research Award’ on numerous occasions.
Her latest achievement—the AIIMS gold medal for her postgraduate studies—was presented to her in a grand ceremony at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, on March 21, 2025.
The prestigious event was graced by the President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, and AIIMS President & Union Health Minister, J.P. Nadda.
