SHIMLA: The Chief Justice of High Court of Himachal Pradesh Mohammad Rafiq on Thursday said the technology will go a long way in improving the service and efficiency of the Indian judicial system. Technology is now an integral part of justice delivery system, he said.
Chief Justice said this here today while he distributed 34 laptops to 34 Judicial Officers posted at Shimla, including Judicial Officers posted as Registrars in the High Court of H.P.
Judges of High Court, Justice Sabina, Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Justice Ajay Mohan Goel, Justice Sandeep Sharma, Justice Chander Bhusan Barowalia, Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua, Justice Satyen Vaidya also remained present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Justice said that the laptops are pre-installed with latest Ubuntu Operating System customized by the e-Committee, Supreme Court of India and Supreme Today Law Journal Software with both online and offline accessibility license for the users.

He further said that Supreme Today Law Journal Software pre-installed on the laptops will help Judicial Officers to find law and precedents. He stressed on the use of technology as an integral party of the justice delivery system.
As many as 139 laptops have been purchased by the High Court for Judicial Officers posted across State. The funds for procurement of laptops have been provided by e-Committee, Supreme Court of India, under e-Courts Project.
Among other prominent persons present on the occasion were Ashok Sharma, Ld. Advocate General, Himachal Pradesh, Ajay Kochhar, Chairman Bar Council Himachal Pradesh. Lovnish Kanwar, President H.P. High Court Bar Association, Registrars General and other Registrars of High Court, Ld District and Sessions Judges and other Judicial Officers.
