SHIMLA: The captains of digital business industry today bat for a technology-driven, secure, reliable, robust and service-oriented data centres. The data centres will give a new push to India’s quest for digital economy that is likely to hit the one Trillion $ mark by  2025, they said.   

Addressing the at the virtual session on CII India Talk on Data Center held today, which was attended by 90 delegates, Dr Saurabh Garg, CEO, UIDAI said. “Data Centres can be  key drivers  to India's quest for Digital Economy”.

“When we look at the entire stack of cloud services, whether it is infrastructure as service or a platform as service or software as service, to improve the agility and reliability in the delivery of service, these can be expanded as we go ahead”, he added. 

In his address, Prateek Garg, Chairman, CII Regional Committee (NR) on Artificial Intelligence, who is also MD, Progressive Infotech said promoting and creating a framework for a robust digital infrastructure is the need of hour for  5G, IoT, AI, ML. “Covid-19 pandemic became a major accelerator for cloud adoption, with businesses continuing to invest in cloud infrastructure, tools and software to strengthen their business operations”, he added. 

 Speaking at the session Vinod Sood, Co-Chairman, CII Regional Committee (NR) on AI and MD, Hughes Systique said that  Data centers are the value center and  powerhouses of the industrial world. The vision of the enterprise for the digital age includes a modern data center equipped with service-oriented and secure infrastructure, he added. 

Commenting on the topic, AS Rajgopal, CEO & MD, NxtGen Datacenter and Cloud Technologies, said, “We are proud of, and the inspiration that drives us is the initiatives taken by the government. The government is setting the pace, and Enterprise needs to catch up”.

“We had worked with the Ministry of Health and Election Commission in the past. There is a need to take more profound digital infrastructure into the country as we had embarked on the thought process of building 236 edge locations. The aspiration is to be in every district headquarters”, he added.

Vishal Awal, Vice President and Managing Partner - Telecom IBM Global Business Services said Digital economy in India is likely to hit 1 trillion $ mark by 2025 and the Data Center of yore is fast transforming into  the Cloud / AI / ML/ 5G / iPV6 era. "Self-service IT, DevOps, and software-defined infrastructure are critical functions of the next-generation Data Center to ensure handling of data explosion in a secure and compliant manner, he added. 

Sandeep Bhambure, MD, Veeam Software said, "Newer technologies including 5G, IPv6, Satellite Broadband and AI/ML will play a crucial role. "It will enable us how we protect our data as well as digital assets in the future to meet the evolving expectations of businesses and consumers", he added.  

Siddhartha Tipnis, Partner, Deloitte India said that glimpse of robust outlook for data centre market in India in the midst of several tailwinds. “Government of India’s digital/communication initiatives, exponential data growth trajectory, accelerated adoption of virtual/new business models and a preference for asset light infrastructure by startups/others are expected to propel India into the top ten data centre markets globally in next few years”, he said.
