CII Pushes for Stronger Industry–Defence Synergy as Demand for Indigenous Manufacturing Rises
Chandigarh November 28: With the demand for indigenous production increasing across the country, industry leaders and defence representatives came together at the Achieving Excellence in Manufacturing event held at CII, Sector-31, to explore deeper collaboration between vendors and manufacturing companies.
The conference brought together key figures including Western Command GOC Lt. Gen. Ajay Chandpuriya, HAL’s Head of Procurement Murali Agrawal, Punjab Development Commission Vice Chairperson Seema Bansal, and Invest Punjab CEO Amit Dhaka.
All speakers stressed that the armed forces and government agencies are actively scouting for capable Indian manufacturers, not only in Punjab but nationwide.
However, they underlined that industries must first understand military requirements and align their capabilities accordingly.
Organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in partnership with the Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion (PBIP), the event focused on bridging gaps between defence buyers and domestic manufacturers.
CII officials noted that such platforms intensify healthy competition while opening up new opportunities for emerging industries.
The exhibition saw participation from Indian Army Western Command, 3 BRD, IIT Ropar, Rail Coach Factory Kapurthala, Bharat Electronics Limited, Escorts Kubota, Sarbloh Motors, BrahMos Aerospace, and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, among others.
CII Punjab State Vice Chairman Harpreet Singh Nibber said that with the industry expanding and innovation capabilities growing, the demand for local manufacturing has surged.
Events like this, he added, allow both sides—industry and defence—to interact directly, paving the way for collaborations that strengthen India’s self-reliance in manufacturing.
