Gurugram, March 12, 2025 – India’s auto industry is shifting gears towards a high-tech, resilient, and globally competitive future.

At the 5th Indian Automotive Value Chain Summit (IAVCS 2025) hosted by CII, top industry leaders mapped out a roadmap to digitalization, localization, and sustainability—the three pillars of India’s next auto leap.

With President Trump pushing Elon Musk’s Tesla to lead the EV revolution in the USA, India is making aggressive moves to position itself as a global automotive hub. Maruti Suzuki’s Executive Officer - Supply Chain, Deepak Thukral, delivered a sharp keynote, emphasizing that with just 37 vehicles per 1,000 people, India has massive growth potential. However, success will depend on:

✅ AI-driven supply chains for real-time visibility

✅ Deep localization to cut imports & boost exports

✅ PLI schemes & Atmanirbhar Bharat push for domestic manufacturing

✅ ESG & Net Zero by 2070 commitments for sustainable mobility

"OEMs, suppliers, and policymakers must collaborate to drive innovation and make India the world’s next auto powerhouse," said Thukral.

Industry heavyweights like Abhimanyu Sharaff (Vikas Group), Rohit Relan (Bharat Seats), and Saket Bhatia (Bony Polymers) echoed the urgency of AI, IoT, and automation in building a resilient, tech-driven supply chain.

The focus? Accelerating EV adoption to hit India’s 30% EV market share goal by 2030.

But challenges persist. Akhill Aggarwal (Sterling Tools Ltd) pointed out backward integration gaps, urging faster policy execution to scale up India's EV ecosystem.

Meanwhile, CII is backing MSMEs with financial support for digital transformation, ensuring no player is left behind.

As global giants bet on next-gen mobility, India is all set to supercharge its auto industry—not just for domestic dominance but to compete head-on with the USA, China, and Europe.
