CBI Court Sentences Two to Life in 2015 Murder of Software Engineer Ankit Chauhan

New Delhi: A CBI court in New Delhi on Monday sentenced Shashank Jadon and Manoj Kumar to life imprisonment for the cold-blooded murder of software engineer Ankit Chauhan in Noida’s Sector 76, back in 2015.

The court also imposed fines of ₹70,000 and ₹50,000 respectively on the convicts.

The judgment comes after the two were found guilty on September 20, 2025, by the CBI court.

Ankit Chauhan, who worked with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), was shot dead inside his Fortuner car on April 13, 2015, by unidentified assailants.

The case was later transferred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the directions of the Allahabad High Court, and the agency registered the FIR on June 14, 2016.

Following a detailed probe, the CBI arrested Jadon and Kumar in June 2017 and filed a chargesheet on August 29 the same year for offences including murder, attempted robbery, criminal conspiracy, and destruction of evidence.

In 2019, the Supreme Court transferred the trial from Ghaziabad to New Delhi. After years of proceedings, the CBI’s meticulous investigation finally led to the conviction and sentencing of the two accused.

With this verdict, a decade-old case that had shaken Noida’s tech community reaches closure.
