Cloudbursts Pound Rampur, Anni; Satluj Swells, Luhri Project Site Under Water

Shimla, Aug 13 — A series of cloudbursts in Khasha Path, Nogli Khad, Nankhari, Ghanvi, Kupan Ghad and Baghi Pul — along with parts of Kinnaur — unleashed flash floods across low-lying areas of Rampur subdivision and Anni late last night.

The Ghanvi was inundated by the flash flood with water inundating houses huts and sheds.

The flood in Kurpan khad has flooded the Baghipul inundating many houses which were vacated by the occupants in time, no loss of life is reported so far

The Fojo nallah in Pooh in upper Kinnaur also witnessed cloud burst that flows into the Satluj River.

The sudden gush of water sent the Satluj river surging, inundating the Luhri-I hydropower project site of SJVN. Huge quantities of logs, boulders and slush have choked the river, pushing its level up to alarming marks.

The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) has sounded an alert and pressed State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams into action. Initial visuals show several houses submerged and fields washed away.

Officials said they were still compiling details on the scale of damage and possible casualties, with SDRF teams on the ground assessing the losses.
