International Art Exhibition ‘Oneness’ Turns Major Tourist Attraction at Gaiety Theatre in Shimla
SHIMLA: The historic Gaiety Theatre has transformed into a vibrant hub of colours, creativity and cultural dialogue as the 7th International Annual Art Exhibition “Oneness” kicked off here on May 9, drawing art lovers, tourists and residents in large numbers.
Organised by Mahsu Art Society Shimla and curated by Dr Bhader Singh, the six-day exhibition has brought together 52 artists from across India and Nepal under one roof.
The exhibition is rapidly emerging as a major tourist attraction on the Ridge, with visitors thronging the iconic heritage venue to witness a rich blend of contemporary and traditional artworks.
Artists have explored themes of coexistence, identity, memory, nature and shared human experiences through paintings, mixed media, sketches and experimental visual art forms.
Tourists visiting Shimla during the summer season are finding the exhibition an added cultural attraction beyond the town’s usual colonial charm and scenic beauty.
Many visitors described the exhibition as a refreshing artistic experience in the heart of the hill town.
The event also featured the presentation of the prestigious Dhanku Kala Shree Samman, honouring distinguished contributions in the field of art and culture.
The exhibition was inaugurated by former Member of Parliament Pratibha Singh as the chief guest, while noted academician and art patron Dr. Amreen Kaur Sekhon graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
Their presence added significance to the international art exhibition that brought together artists from across India and Nepal under the theme “Oneness”, celebrating harmony, creativity and shared human experiences.
Speaking on the occasion, Pratibha Singh said the exhibition aims to create dialogue through art and strengthen cultural exchange between artists and audiences from different regions.
The exhibition will remain open to the public till May 14 and is witnessing a steady footfall of students, tourists, local residents and art enthusiasts.
With heritage ambience, international participation and diverse artistic expressions, “Oneness” has added a fresh cultural dimension to Shimla’s tourism calendar.
