Hamirpur’s Adarsh Verma Becomes Major General, Second from Himachal This Year
SHIMLA/HAMIRPUR, July 17 – Big moment for Himachal! Army officer Adarsh Verma, a proud son of Hamirpur city, has been promoted to the rank of Major General.
He’s now leading the Agnibaaz Division in Pune, taking over from Maj Gen Amar Pal Singh Chahal, VSM.
This makes him the second officer from Himachal Pradesh this year—after Maj Gen Chauhan—to rise to the rank, putting the hill state firmly on the Indian Army’s map.
A decorated officer, Maj Gen Verma has served in counter-insurgency ops, UN missions, and holds top degrees in Weapon Tech, Defence Studies, and Management. He’s also a Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) awardee for distinguished service.
Back home, the news lit up Hamirpur, especially his neighborhood in Ward No. 5, where friends and locals celebrated the achievement with pride.
