As many as 72 passengers including five Indians were killed in a Nepalese Yeti Airline aircraft crash near Pokhara airport in Kathmandu in the Himalayan kingdom of Nepal at 10.50 local time on Sunday.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal as many as 68 bodies have been retrieved from the crash site so far, while the search for the remaining missing four victims is still on.
There were 72 passengers on board including 4 crew members in the ill-fated flight NYT691 bound to Pokhara from Kathmandu.
Aircraft started a tilting downward movement whose pictures were captured live in the air before it crashed near Pokhara airport at 10:50 local time.
Among the killed were 53 Nepalese, 5 Indians, four Russians, two Koreans, one each Australian, Argentinian, Irish and French nationals on board of the ill-fated aircraft.
After the information was received two helicopters were deployed near the crash site for search and rescue operation.
The ground rescue team consisting of Nepal army, armed police force Nepal, local municipality, Himalayan rescue association including rescue team of fire-fighting services of Pokhara regional International Airport also moved to the crash site for prompt rescue operation, said the official spokesperson.
The 5 Indians who died in the aircraft crash have been identified at Sanjay Jaiswal, Sonu Jaiswal, Anil Kumar Rajbhar, Abhishek Kushwaha, Vishal Sharma.
President of India and Prime Minister of India have expressed their anguish over the death of the passengers and expressed their solidarity with the bereaved families.
