Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Police held onto the No. 1 national ranking in Emergency Response Support System (ERSS-112) performance for September 2026, clocking an average response time of 4 minutes and 4 seconds.

The milestone caps a rapid operational turnaround—climbing from 34th place nationwide in November 2025 to the top rank.

Officials attributed the improvement to upgraded dispatch technology, tighter field coordination, and the round-the-clock efforts of call takers, dispatchers, Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) crews, and district units.

Director General of Police Ashok Tewari commended the force for the turnaround, stressing that sustaining this standard through prompt, compassionate public service remains the department's top priority.
