Breaking News | Himachal shuts down all schools, colleges on Sept 2
SHIMLA: In view of the nonstop rains, flash floods, and cloudbursts battering Himachal, the state government has ordered a complete shutdown of all educational institutions – schools and colleges, private and government – on September 2.
The Himachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (HPSDMA) directed all Deputy Commissioners to enforce the closure under the Disaster Management Act, 2005.
The move comes after heavy downpours triggered landslides and flood-like situations across districts, posing a risk to students and staff.
Officials said the step was taken as a precautionary measure to ensure safety, as the state continues to reel under widespread rain havoc.

Shimla: landslides reported, roads blocked on Junga–Chail stretch, Four Deaths.
Kullu-Manali: Flash floods in Beas tributaries, river in spate.
Kinnaur: Heavy landslips; travel advisory issued for Sangla and Pooh areas.
Mandi: Cloudbursts in remote belts; highways disrupted.
Chamba: Manimahesh yatra rescue in operation for pilgrims;
Kangra: Flood alerts near Pong dam catchment; low-lying areas vulnerable.
Sirmaur: Torrential downpour in Paonta Sahib; nalas, Giri overflows.
Lahaul-Spiti: High-altitude flash floods, locals advised to avoid river banks, highway cloded at Maling.
Solan, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Una: Heavy showers continue;
Chakki Morh single lane. Schools, colleges closed like rest of state.
