Sonauli (Indo-Nepal Border): Giving a fresh push to the century-old India–Nepal friendship, the Indian Army on Monday handed over six indigenous target practice drones along with ground support equipment to the Nepali Army at a special ceremony held at the Integrated Check Post in Sonauli.
The symbolic gesture went beyond just military hardware – it underlined the long-standing brotherhood that transcends borders, culture, and history across the Himalayan states.
Both armies, bound by deep-rooted ties and shared traditions, have been partners in peace and security for decades.
Officials said the drones will boost the capability of the Nepali Army, enhancing its preparedness and operational efficiency.
The Indian Army reaffirmed its commitment to support the modernization and training needs of its Nepali counterpart, calling the move “another step towards strengthening mutual trust and cooperation.”
Nepalese soldiers not only form the bedrock of the Indian Army but also serve as the backbone of Himalayan states like Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, contributing to apple economy, security, disaster relief, and border management in some of the toughest terrains.
The drone handover is being seen as a reaffirmation that India and Nepal’s brotherhood is not just about the past, but also about building a secure and cooperative future.
