Manali: A massive blaze has erupted in the quaint Patahila village in the Sanj Valley of Kullu district today that destroyed nine houses and damaged six other rendering 15 families homeless.

As arrival of fire tenders remains awaited, residents swung into action to control the fire.
Fire tenders from Larji later reached the site and doused the fire.
The resilient villagers are actively engaged in combating the raging inferno, utilizing whatever means available to contain the leaping flames.
Adding to the severity of the situation, the wooden houses in the village, coupled with the presence of winter grass and stockpiled dry wood meant for winter necessities, added the potent fuel for the fire.
This unfortunate combination has escalated the intensity of the blaze, making it a challenge for both the villagers and fire fighters.
The Kullu administer gave help of Rs 25 K cash, ration, blankets, tarpaal each to the fire victims.
But the losses run in excess of crore of rupees as the villagers could not save anything.
Worsening their plight is the harsh frigid winter as the fire victims have no shelter to live.
The exact cause of the fire was under investigation. The fire started in the morning hours in a house and went out of control.
