MANDI: The new ropeway at the Baglamukhi Temple near Pandoh in Mandi district is set to significantly enhance cultural tourism in the Mandi Tourist Circuit.
This 800-meter ropeway, built by Doppelmayr India and BEKAM Infra, uses state-of-the-art Aerial Tramway technology.
The project, valued at ₹50 crores, aims to improve accessibility to the temple, particularly during Navratri when pilgrim footfall surges.
The trial run has been successful, and it promises to provide a more comfortable journey for devotees.
This ropeway is expected to not only promote religious tourism but also boost the entire Mandi tourism circuit, which includes eco-tourism destinations like Janjehli and Shikari Devi Mata.
The previous BJP state government has positioned the ropeway as a key project under its "Nai Rahein, Nai Manzilein" scheme, aimed at developing new tourism avenues across the state.
Additionally, the government is trying to harness Pandoh dam, running boats and shikaras, for fostering tourism.
