SHIMLA: Setting a "humane tone of his regime", Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said the state government would come out with a policy for the less privileged students, who would be able to pursue the higher studies of their choice.
Soon after he was swore-in as Chief Minister today, Sukhu made a beeline for the Tuttikandi Balika Ashram in the city in a gesture setting a "humane tone" of his regime. He distributed sweets to the girls.
While addressing the students, the Chief Minister said that the State Government would soon come out with a comprehensive plan to provide assistance to less privileged students so that they could pursue the higher education of their choice without any hindrance.
He advised the students to set a goal to work hard with commitment to achieve the same. He said that it would be ensured that students residing in the Ashram get proper facilities
The Chief Minister directed the officers to ensure proper maintenance of the Ashram so that the girls do not face any inconvenience.
He also directed the officers to prepare a detailed plan to help the girls to pursue their higher education.
He also appreciated the talent of the students of the Ashram and asked the officers to provide all possible help to the students to excel in life and contribute to the development of the nation.
The Chief Minister announced Rs 51,000 from his discretionary fund to the students who presented a colourful cultural programme on this occasion.

Dhiman, Principal Secretary Subhasish Panda, Deputy Commissioner Shimla Aditya Negi, Additional Director Ekta Kapta and Superintendent of Police Dr. Monika were also present on the occasion.
