CBI Nabs Senior Engineer in Railways Bribery Case
NEW DELHI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today has arrested a Senior Section Engineer (Bridge) from South East Central Railway in Nainpur, Madhya Pradesh, for accepting a bribe of Rs 39,000.
According to CBI the bribe, 3% of a total bill amounting to Rs 13 lakh, was allegedly demanded for allowing the complainant to work smoothly and to clear a pending bill.
Acting on a complaint filed on June 26, 2024, the CBI set up a sting operation and caught the engineer red-handed while accepting the bribe.
Following the arrest, searches at the accused's premises uncovered incriminating documents. The engineer is being presented in court, and the investigation is ongoing.
