SHIMLA: In a significant crackdown on the cryptocurrency scamsters, Himachal Pradesh police have seized seven  vehicles many of them with VIP numbers  linked to a cryptocurrency scam across the state.

 The special investigation team, looking into the infamous cryptocurrency scam, disclosed that various vehicles, ranging from Fortuner to Kia, have been confiscated from different individuals.

One suspect has already been arrested in connection with the multi-crore rupee scam, while the masterminds behind the operation remain at large.

The police operation comes as part of a broader effort to curb cryptocurrency scams in the region. Earlier reports suggest that the Himachal Pradesh police had yet to estimate the exact dimension of the cryptocurrency scam, but insiders believe it runs into several hundred or even thousands of crores over the state.

Furthermore, the Central Bureau of Investigation is concurrently investigating a similar cryptocurrency fraud across the country and internationally.

Crypto scammers have allegedly cheated innocent victims out of lakhs of rupees in India and Singapore. The scale of these fraudulent activities has prompted a comprehensive investigation by law enforcement agencies.

According to the HP police,  the special investigation team detailed the seized vehicles during the cryptocurrency-related cases.

The confiscated vehicles include a KIA Sonnet (HP 56C-0007), Maruti Swift ZDI (HP22E-8005), another KIA Sonnet (HP21C-1910), Tata Nexon (HP86-4663), i10 Grand (HP65-8489), Creta (HP82-7440), and Fortuner (HP65B-0004). 

Scamsters have availed the so-called VIP numbers to impress the public and the government agencies to wear a veneer of good public image after making money in the fake crypto currency racket, commented the experts.  

The operation marks a significant development in the ongoing efforts to tackle cryptocurrency scam in the region.
