MANALI: Spells of Snowfall in Gulmarg, Manali, Narkanda, and Ladakh has set the stage for the Khelo India Winter Games, scheduled to start in Gulmarg's ski resort from February 21 to 25.
Over a dozen teams, including one from Himachal Pradesh, will showcase their ski skills. The event follows the first phase held in Ladakh from February 2 to 6.
Various sports including ski mountaineering, alpine skiing, snowboarding, and Nordic skiing will be organized in Gulmarg.
The Himachal team departed from Manali for Jammu today.
They will then travel to Gulmarg by air. The team consists of 51 players and 10 officials, selected with the support of the Himachal Winter Games Association.
All players will demonstrate their skills from February 21 to 25 in Gulmarg.
The team's journey arrangements have been facilitated by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Mountaineering Institute in Manali, in collaboration with the Indian Olympic Association.
Director Avinash Negi, from the institute, informed that today, the 61-member Himachal team, led by the nodal officer of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Mountaineering Institute, departed from Manali.
