Himachal Pradesh Education Department Scouts for Sports Talent
SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh Education Department is on the lookout for promising young athletes to join various sports hostels across the state.
According to the notification issued by tge education department, to kick off the selection process, trials for talented boys and girls in different disciplines are scheduled to take place at various venues.
The selection trials, set to begin on May 2, 2024, will cover a range of sports including volleyball, basketball, hockey, and football.
Boys and girls between the ages of 13 to 18 years, and for hockey, girls aged 12 to 18 years, are eligible to participate.
However, exceptionally skilled 12-year-olds may also be considered for admission, subject to meeting specific criteria.
The selection criteria prioritize merit, focusing on attributes such as height, physique, speed, endurance, and agility.
Preference will be given to those with exceptional physical attributes and previous achievements in national-level competitions.
The trials will be conducted by designated selection committees comprising experienced coaches and officials. The selected candidates will receive free coaching and training at the sports hostels.
The Education Department encourages interested students from government-recognized schools to participate in the trials, with the requirement to present certificates of date of birth, sports achievements, and current school enrollment.
With an emphasis on fair and transparent selection, the trials aim to identify and nurture promising sports talent in Himachal Pradesh, paving the way for a brighter future in sports for the youth of the state.
