Shimla: Leaders across Himachal Pradesh expressed profound grief over the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who passed away yesterday at the age of 92 at AIIMS, New Delhi.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu described Dr. Singh as a visionary leader whose transformative policies propelled India’s growth.
“His leadership brought unprecedented progress in various sectors. Landmark initiatives like MNREGA and the Right to Information Act uplifted millions and ensured transparency in governance,” CM Sukhu said.
He also highlighted Dr. Singh's role in economic liberalization, which cemented India's global economic identity.
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla called Dr. Singh a towering statesman and legendary economist.
"His commitment to inclusive growth and his contributions to liberalization reforms have left an indelible mark on our nation's history. He will always be remembered as a true statesman who dedicated his life to India's progress and prosperity," the Governor said in his tribute.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri also conveyed his condolences, emphasizing Dr. Singh’s unparalleled service to the nation. “His vision and policies have deeply impacted the lives of millions, and his demise is a monumental loss for the country,” Agnihotri said.
The leaders prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and extended heartfelt condolences to Dr. Manmohan Singh’s family.
