SHIMLA: IN an effort to ensure the integrity of the upcoming elections, Himachal Pradesh (HP) has taken proactive measures to maintain a vigilant stance against any potential malpractice or disturbances.

Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, in a video conference meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, affirmed the state's commitment to conducting peaceful, fair, and inducement-free elections for both Lok Sabha and by-polls across six Assembly Constituencies.

The meeting, attended by Chief Secretaries, DGPs, and senior officials from 36 states and Union Territories, highlighted the paramount importance of upholding a level playing field for all political parties and stakeholders.

JSaxena assured that stringent security measures have been implemented to safeguard against fraudulent activities, including sealing entry points and monitoring interstate borders to prevent bogus voting, illicit substances, and undue influence.

Addressing concerns over law and order, Director General of Police Sanjay Kundu outlined comprehensive security arrangements aimed at maintaining order and minimizing violence during the electoral process.

Enhanced patrolling and surveillance efforts along interstate borders are being undertaken to assert control and deter criminal elements.

Furthermore, proactive steps such as public awareness campaigns and close monitoring of social media platforms have been initiated to combat the spread of misinformation and hate speech.

Correspondence with neighboring states has been established to coordinate efforts in apprehending proclaimed offenders and curbing the illicit flow of narcotics and other illegal substances.

Chief Electoral Officer Maneesh Garg affirmed that all necessary arrangements have been put in place to facilitate free, fair, and transparent elections in the state.

Additional Chief Secretary Home Onkar C. Sharma, along with other key officials, reiterated the government's unwavering commitment to ensuring the democratic process remains untainted by undue influence or misconduct.

With a firm resolve to uphold the principles of democracy, Himachal Pradesh stands poised to conduct elections that reflect the will of the people, safeguarding the sanctity of the electoral process.
