HP Cabinet Decisions: New Police District, School Mergers, and More

Shimla, 25 July 2024 - The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, has recommended the Governor convene the Monsoon session of the Vidhan Sabha from August 27 to September 9, 2024, in Shimla, with 10 sittings.

Key decisions include the creation of Police District Dehra with its headquarters at Dehra, along with 39 new posts.

Police Posts in Dadasiba and Majheen will be upgraded to Police Stations, and new Police Posts will be established in Jwalamukhi City and Moin. Additionally, jurisdiction of Police Station Rakkar will shift from SDPO Jwalamukhi to SDPO Dehra.

The Cabinet approved a Market Intervention Scheme to procure apples, kinnow, malta, oranges, and mangoes at Rs. 12 per kg, and galgal at Rs. 10 per kg. Apple procurement will run from July 20 to October 31, 2024, and mango from July 1 to August 31, 2024. Kinnow, malta, orange, and galgal procurement will occur from November 21, 2024, to February 15, 2025.

 

Government Primary and Middle Schools within a 2-3 kilometer radius with five or fewer students will merge, and 89 Primary Schools and 10 Middle Schools with zero enrollment will close. Annual transfers for teaching staff will occur at the end of the academic session, and all teachers will be required to teach. Schools must hold daily morning assemblies with the national anthem, and unfurl the national flag daily. Physical education, CPR, and First Aid training will become compulsory.

 

A new SDPO office will open at Dharampur in Mandi district, and additional posts will be created for SDPO offices in Chuwari and Indora, and for Police Stations in Sihunta, Bhoranj, and Manikaran at Kasol.

The Cabinet also approved the recruitment of 116 Work Inspectors for Jal Shakti Vibhag and 25 Junior Technicians for the Public Works Department. It also approved the hiring of 21 Civil Judges and the creation of a Public Works Department Circle at Dehra and Division at Jwalamukhi.

Further decisions include creating a Jal Shakti Vibhag Division at Dharampur, a sub-division at Parwanoo, and reorganizing the Electrical Division at Haroli in Una district. A new Block Medical Office will open at Jaisinghpur, and the Development Blocks Pragpur, Nagrota Surian, and Dehra will be reorganized.

The Cabinet also approved filling 16 posts in the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, 10 Treasury Officers, and several posts in medical colleges. 

A three-month extension for the use of physical stamp papers was also approved, along with the formation of three Cabinet Sub Committees to address various issues. Additionally, the MoU with Alliance Air Aviation Limited for Shimla-Dharamshala-Shimla flights was extended until June 30, 2025.
