DHARAMSHALA- Despite the previous government leaving the state with a debt of 75,000 crore, sustained efforts are being made to minimize the deficit. The state government is committed to increasing revenue resources and has already taken significant decisions to achieve this goal.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu addressed a public meeting in Fatehpur, Kangra district, emphasizing the state's hydroelectric potential as a boon for economic stability.
The government has requested an increase in royalty share, ranging from 30 to 50 percent, from debt-free hydropower projects, which has been raised with the Union Government.
Kangra district is slated to be developed as the tourism capital of the state, with a focus on infrastructure development. The Pong dam area is included in the plan, and efforts will be made to make it a top tourist attraction within four years.
To strengthen the rural economy through milk production, a world-class milk plant will be established in Dhagwar, Kangra district, at a cost of 250 crore rupees. The government has also decided to provide subsidies to the youth for purchasing e-taxis.
Chief Minister Sukhu announced the up-gradation of Rehan police post to a police station and the opening of an indoor stadium with a swimming pool in Fatehpur.
He also allocated five crore rupees for the construction of a state-of-the-art Cow Sanctuary in Fatehpur and announced the commencement of bus stand construction after November 2023.
The Chief Minister further announced the possible establishment of a Rajiv Gandhi Day Boarding School in Fatehpur, subject to the availability of land.
Upon his arrival in Fatehpur, Chief Minister Sukhu received a warm welcome from MLA Bhawani Singh Pathania and a massive roadshow was organized in his honor.
He paid homage to former Minister late Sujan Singh Pathania at his bust in Fatehpur and also paid respects at the statue of Maharana Pratap at Pong dam.
During the visit, the Chief Minister inaugurated a double-lane bridge over Sakri khud on Dadwala-Sakri road and dedicated two Functional Household Tap Connections schemes to the residents of 26 panchayats in Fatehpur tehsil.
These schemes, completed under the Jal Jeevan Mission, have benefited over 61,000 people in 290 habitations.
MLA Bhawani Singh Pathania expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for visiting Fatehpur despite the inclement weather.
He highlighted the Congress party's focus on the overall development of Fatehpur and expressed confidence that the Chief Minister's vision would lead the state towards prosperity.
He also requested a survey for the development of an industrial area and the establishment of a milk chilling plant in Fatehpur, considering the area's abundant milk production.
Several dignitaries, including Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar, CPS Ashish Butail, MLAs, and other officials, were present during the occasion.
