SHIMLA: In a call to protect forests, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla inaugurated the 74th State Level Van Mahotsav at Bagh near Shimla today.
The event, hosted jointly by the Himachal Pradesh State Red Cross Society and State Forest Department, saw the planting of a Deodar sapling by Governor Shukla and Lady Governor Janaki Shukla.
Stressing the delicate balance between development and nature, Governor Shukla said that while progress is important, it must go hand in hand with environmental preservation.
He warned against the consequences of interfering with nature, saying that we must cherish the natural beauty given to Himachal.
Governor Shukla extended his support to the National Mental Health Program, emphasizing the importance of addressing addiction and ensuring effective rehabilitation.
He visited the Mental Health and Rehabilitation Hospital in Shimla, interacting with patients and distributing fruits.
The occasion featured a comprehensive review of the state's anti-drug efforts by the Governor and Health Department officials.
Dr. Gopal Berry, Director of Health Services, shared insights into the implementation of the National Mental Health Program in the state.
