SHIMLA: In a swift action, Himachal Pradesh police cracked a blind murder case  that took place on September 6, 2023  and arrested  a migrant worker form Jammu in this connection. HP Police have sounded all SPs to  compile details of migrant labourers in each district to prevent such crime in future.

An unidentified body was discovered on the railway track near Kalka in Dharampur district Solan on September 7.

Rapid response teams, led by Sub-Inspectors Jai Kishan and Ishwar Singh, were dispatched to the scene, accompanied by AIG TTR Sandeep Dhaval and Additional Superintendent of Police TTR Narvir Singh Rathore. Forensic expert Naresh Kumar from FSL Baddi also arrived to gather crucial evidence.

The victim's identity remained a mystery, prompting the police to send the body for a post-mortem examination at Maharishi Markandeya Medical College Kumarhati.

However, as the investigation unfolded, it became evident that this was no ordinary incident; it was a cold-blooded murder, said the Police.

On September 9, 2023, a breakthrough occurred when the police arrested Suraj, a 28-year-old resident of Jammu and Kashmir, near Dharampur Sanwara.

Suraj had been working in dhabas in the area for several years and lived with his brother-in-law in Dharampur,  Tehsil Kasauli.

The chilling sequence of events revealed that on the evening of September 6, 2023, Suraj lured the unidentified victim to the railway line in Jawali, the police said.

He attempted a sinister act, but when his advances were rebuffed, he resorted to violence. Suraj allegedly struck the victim's neck with a beer bottle and ruthlessly bludgeoned him to death with a stone, police said.

After committing the heinous crime, Suraj didn't even return to his brother-in-law's residence. Instead, he went into hiding, with plans to escape back to Jammu and Kashmir.

However, the relentless pursuit of justice by the Government Railway Police Station Shimla, AIG TTR Sandeep Dhaval, and Additional Superintendent of Police Narvir Singh Rathore led to Suraj's arrest within 48 hours of the case being registered.

The motive for this brutal murder remained unclear, but Suraj confessed to the crime, claimed the police.

The clothing he wore during the murder was also recovered at his direction. On September 13, 2023, the Court Kasauli remanded Suraj to judicial custody for 14 days, following five days in police custody.

As the investigation continues, authorities are delving into digital data, CDRs, and other avenues to uncover the full truth.

In a bid to prevent such incidents in the future, Dig TTR Shri Gurudev Chand Sharma has issued directives to Superintendents of Police across districts to compile details of migrant laborers and tenants in their areas.

Station House Officers have been tasked with vigilant patrolling to curb any similar incidents. This case, once shrouded in mystery, is now firmly under the spotlight of justice.
