HP Police Ups the Game on Road Safety with New Training for Cops...
Shimla – Himachal Pradesh Police is on a mission to make roads safer.
Their latest move? A solid three-day training program for cops on road safety and accident investigation.
The program, rolled out from November 5th to 7th, 2024, was specially crafted by the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), New Delhi, and held by the Traffic, Tourist, and Railway (TTR) unit in Shimla.
The training, directed by DGP Dr. Atul Verma, IPS, aimed to sharpen the skills of the state's field investigation officers.
At the wrap-up session, AIG TTR Vinod Kumar, HPS, took the reins, with Additional SP Narvir Singh Rathour coordinating the course.
During the program, officers dove into modern accident investigation techniques, learning to handle advanced equipment like Alco sensors, Doppler radar, and laser speed meters.
These tools are set to become the frontline weapons in cracking down on traffic violators.
Experts were on board too. Shri Ankush Thakur from NIC Shimla introduced the iRAD app for seamless digital reporting on accident cases, while engineer Naresh Kumar demonstrated how to use Alco sensors and laser speed guns effectively.
First-aid expert Dr. Amit Sharma taught officers essential life-saving skills for road emergencies.
In-house trainers, including Additional SP Narvir Singh Rathour and AIG Vinod Kumar, led sessions covering the Motor Vehicle Act, accident FIR filing, on-site inspections, photography, and how to record witness statements thoroughly.
A total of 35 officers, mostly from district traffic wings, attended. The training was all about arming them with up-to-date knowledge and tech to tighten road safety measures.
With these new skills and tools, Himachal Pradesh Police is taking another step towards safer roads, showing their commitment to reducing accidents and improving enforcement across the state.
