Shimla: Deputy CM Mukesh Agnihotri chaired the 158th HRTC Board of Directors meeting and the 70th meeting of the Bus Stand Management Authority today.
Main transport-related decisions were taken to improve services across Himachal Pradesh.
The board approved a fare waiver for milk and vegetable transportation in HRTC buses, a move welcomed by farmers. Concessions under the luggage policy were also introduced to provide relief to passengers.
Agnihotri announced the resumption of recruitment for 177 Junior Office Assistant (IT) and 12 Computer Operator posts. The process was delayed since 2022 due to a paper leak.
The state is set to add 297 electric buses to the HRTC fleet, reinforcing its eco-friendly transport goals. 100 mini-buses will also be procured to improve rural and hilly connectivity.
Himachal became the first state to implement the UPI Credit/Debit NCMC card system within seven months of its introduction by HRTC. Driver-conductor facilities were upgraded, including a 120-bed accommodation at Rajghat, Delhi.
HRTC’s income has risen by 14%, generating ₹66 crore so far, showcasing the government’s focus on efficiency.
Several infrastructure projects were approved, including car parking and commercial complexes at Baijnath, Chamba, and Una. A new bus stand in Bilaspur’s Bharari and the relocation of Sarkaghat bus stand to Barchwad were finalized.
The meeting, conducted by MD Rohan Chand Thakur, saw participation from officials, including RD Nazeem, DC Negi, and other senior officers.
