SHIMLA: In a good news for employees of the Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC), Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri announced a 4% daily allowance (DA) increment, effective immediately.
The announcement came during the inauguration of various services at the Old Bus Stand in Shimla today.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Chief Minister Agnihotri emphasized the government's commitment to the welfare of HRTC employees. He instructed the Managing Director of the Corporation to ensure the prompt implementation of the DA increment before the Model Code of Conduct comes into effect.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed the launch of several initiatives aimed at improving public transportation services in the state.
Notable among them was the introduction of a cashless ticketing system, which will initially be available in Shimla, Hamirpur, and Una districts. This system, implemented in collaboration with the State Bank of India, allows passengers to purchase tickets using credit cards, debit cards, or UPI, eliminating the hassle of carrying change and reducing disputes between passengers and conductors.
Furthermore, a shuttle bus service from the Old Bus Stand in Shimla to Jubbarhatti Airport was inaugurated, providing passengers with convenient and affordable transportation options. Additionally, an online bus pass facility for college students was launched, streamlining the process of obtaining bus passes and enhancing accessibility to transportation services.
The Deputy Chief Minister also highlighted the state government's efforts to expand bus services to key destinations, such as Ayodhya, in collaboration with other state governments.
He noted the recent commencement of bus services to Ayodhya from Hamirpur, Una, and Shimla, with plans for further expansion based on public demand.
The announcement of the 4% DA increment for HRTC employees underscores the government's commitment to supporting its workforce and improving public transportation infrastructure in Himachal Pradesh.
