BJP Back in Power in Delhi After 27 Years: CM Rekha Gupta Vows to Turn Sheeshmahal Into Museum, Go After Corrupt

New Delhi, February 20: After a 27-year hiatus, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken charge of Delhi, but the new cabinet has already landed in the spotlight.

A report by the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) and Delhi Election Watch, released today, reveals that 71% of the ministers, have declared criminal cases against themselves.

Out of the seven ministers sworn in today, one faces a serious criminal case.

The financial profile of the cabinet is equally striking—29% are billionaires, and the average asset value per minister stands at ₹56.03 crores.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has declared assets worth ₹132.74 crores.

The wealthiest minister is Manjinder Singh Sirsa from Rajouri Garden, with assets worth ₹248.85 crores, while the least wealthy is Kapil Mishra from Karawal Nagar, with ₹1.06 crores.

All ministers have liabilities, with Parvesh Sahib Singh from New Delhi topping the list at ₹74.36 crores.

Soon after taking oath, CM Rekha Gupta sent a sharp message, announcing that Sheeshmahal will be converted into a museum.

"Anyone who has been corrupt will have to give an account of each and every rupee," she declared.

In the evening, Gupta and her cabinet colleagues will visit Yamuna Ghat and take a pledge to restore the river to its pure form.

On the education front, one minister is 12th-pass, while the rest are graduates or above.

Age-wise, 71% of ministers are between 41-50 years, and the remaining 29% fall in the 51-60 bracket.
