SHIMLA: In a joint statement today, HP Cabinet Ministers Jagat Singh Negi, Rohit Thakur, and Anirudh Singh condemned the opposition's attempt to politicize a recent murder case in the Salooni Sub-division of Chamba district.
The ministers accused the opposition of playing dirty politics and hindering the ongoing investigation, despite law enforcement agencies diligently probing the incident and already apprehending the culprits involved.
The ministers highlighted that the police swiftly arrested the suspects after filing an FIR and were actively investigating the matter.
However, they expressed frustration at the opposition's actions, which included gathering in large numbers in violation of section 144, aiming to disturb peace and harmony while disobeying law and order directives.
Assuring the public that the government would ensure justice for the victim's family, the ministers stated that the Chief Minister had directed a comprehensive investigation without any delays or oversights.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) had been assigned to assess the situation and prevent any untoward incidents, they said.
The ministers said maintaining law and order was the government's responsibility, reiterating their commitment to delivering justice and preserving social harmony.
They called upon BJP leaders to refrain from engaging in petty politics and instead support the ongoing investigation.
They urged the opposition to play a responsible role as the opposition party, while reminding them of the government's dedication to resolving the case and ensuring public safety.
The state government remained vigilant around the clock, closely monitoring the situation and its developments. The ministers warned the opposition against inciting people to take the law into their own hands, as it not only exacerbated the situation but also posed a challenge for law enforcement agencies..
The ministers urged the opposition to prioritize fostering brotherhood rather than seeking political gains through caste, color, or creed. They also appealed to the public to maintain peace, uphold the values of the "Dev Bhoomi" (Land of the Gods), and not be swayed by misleading claims made by the opposition.
The state government and law enforcement agencies are fully committed to resolving the case and restoring tranquility in the region.
