Shimla: In a surprising turn of events, the controversial DGP Himachal Pradesh Sanjay Kundu found himself at the center of a storm as he was unceremoniously transferred to the non-police Ayush department following a high court order.

 The Sukhu government wasted no time in appointing Satvant Atwal Trivedi, the senior-most police officer, to take charge as the new DGP in place of Kundu.

Kundu's exit from the DGP post, deemed as controversial, occurred just as he was nearing retirement this April.

Once the blue-eyed cop of the previous JaiRam Thakur government, Kundu's tenure was marked by controversies, including the infamous police constables' recruitment scam under the BJP government.

Despite being hailed as an illustrative officer, Kundu found himself entangled in one controversy after another.

The recent dispute surfaced when a Palampur businessman Nishant Sharma accused Kundu of attempting to influence and pressurize him in a forced business deal—a claim vehemently denied by Kundu, who went on to file a defamatory suit against the businessman.

The turning point came when the high court, responding to the businessman's appeal for a fair probe, directed the state government to remove Kundu from the DGP post.

This decision raised eyebrows, especially considering the Congress's earlier promise to hold the "scamestors" accountable.

However, Kundu has not gone down without a fight, as he swiftly moved to the Supreme Court against the high court order, leaving the stare  in anticipation for the forthcoming adjudication.
