Mayory Mayor and councillots wiht CM Sukhu in Shimla donating relief to Apda Kosh

SHIMLA:  Mayor Surender Chauhan of the Shimla Municipal Corporation, along with Deputy Mayor Uma Kaushal and several councillors, have chosen to forego their monthly honorarium in support of the 'Aapada Rahat Kosh-2023.'

The noble decision comes as the state grapples with immense losses caused by relentless torrential rains.

During a recent meeting, Mayor Chauhan personally informed Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu about this benevolent gesture, emphasizing that numerous councillors from the MC Shimla had volunteered to contribute to the Aapada Rahat Kosh as well.

Adding to the spirit of communal assistance, Councillor R.R. Verma from the Kangnadhar ward presented a generous cheque amounting to Rs. 6 lakh, symbolizing his five years of dedicated service to the council.

Councillors Geetajali Bhagra, Alok Pathania, and Krishan Ram also contributed Rs. 2 lakh, Rs. 7,000, and Rs. 5,100 respectively towards the Aapada Rahat Kosh.

Expressing profound gratitude towards these outstanding contributors, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhu extended his heartfelt appreciation for their noble actions, recognizing the significant impact they would have on alleviating the sufferings of the disaster-affected families.

In a similar vein, other notable organizations have also stepped forward to assist those affected by the calamity.

The HP Administrative Services Association presented a generous cheque of Rs. 11 lakh, while the NPS Employees Association contributed an equally significant amount of Rs. 11 lakh towards the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Additionally, the KCC Bank Association demonstrated its commitment to the cause by presenting a substantial cheque totaling Rs. 29,71,000.

The selfless contributions made by these individuals and organizations reflect the unwavering spirit of unity and empathy in the face of adversity.

As Himachal Pradesh strives to recover from the devastating consequences of the torrential rains, these acts of generosity provide a ray of hope for the affected communities and reaffirm the belief in the power of collective efforts to rebuild and restore what has been lost.
